Will the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict ever end? Representatives from One Voice, a grassroots campaign to end the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, spoke at Boston University Monday, February 15th.
Although snow was falling from the sky and quickly accumulating in Boston, eleven people gathered in the Howard Thurman Center to listen to the stories of a young Palestinian lawyer and an Israeli college student and their mutual hopes and desires for peace among their people.
One Voice aims to empower the voice and ideas of moderates to work toward achieving a mutually beneficial and amicable solution to the issues of statehood for the two peoples.
In a recent poll conducted by One Voice, 74% of Palestinians and 78% of Israelis are willing to accept a two-state solution, which would be created using the 1967 borders. The 1967 borders would provide Palestinians with the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The proposed solution would end Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, thus enabling Palestinians to develop a sustainable and independent Palestinian State. Simultaneously, a two-state solution would guarantee an end to terrorist activities and consequently aid in the betterment of safety and security for both peoples and states.
Born out of the ashes of the failed Camp David Accords in 2002, One Voice has developed into an international movement with more than 650,000 signatories, which encompass roughly equal numbers of Palestinians and Israelis.
